Keith Olberman on the Military Commissions Act, Loss of Habeas Corpus

I remember a CNN caption after the September 11th attacks which read, “Bush: Attacks ‘Cannot Touch the Foundation of America.'” I suppose we should add “unless the President uses them to destroy the Bill of Rights and violate the Constitution of the United States.

If you’re as sick of this as I am, do your country a favor: remember to vote on November 7th, and for God’s sake, vote for change. If you can vote and decide not to, then before you complain, make sure to tell yourself that you let this happen.

If you’re really unhappy with the Bush administration, and you’re in South Florida, remember that you don’t have to choose between Katherine “Crazy Lady” Harris and Bill “Political Hack” Nelson, you can instead vote for Brian Moore (Green). (Note that I’m not endorsing him, just telling you there’s someone else out there.)

While it’s Nelson will probably take the election — after all, he’s raised over $6,000,000, which means he owes a lot of political favors — I just can’t see myself voting for someone who voted for the PATRIOT act and the Military Commissions bill. (He’s like Leiberman, but without morals; I at least respect Lieberman, though I may not agree with him.) As for Katherina Harris — well, she’s a big part of why we’re in this mess in the first place. (Remember: she’s the one who stopped the re-counts.) Of course, she was backstabbed by her party, which means she may be less willing to play the good partisan girl role, but I wouldn’t count on it.

By the way, early voting starts soon. And remember to ask for a paper ballot.
